Eddie Poitras was raised near the Kehiwen reserve in Alberta. He grew up listening to his uncle Pete play the fiddle. Music was an intrical part of the Poitras family. He re-newed his interest in music while working in Rae Edzo. Ed mainly played guitar, but one day a friend wanted a nice guitar and offered to trade it for a violin. He plays that same violin today. Eds passion for music is evident, encouraging his family to follow suit. Ed has a family band and loves to attend Jamborees - anywhere there will be music. Ed won Instrumental CD of the year in 2007 at the Alberta Aboriginal Music Awards held at Rivercree Casino. |
